About Us

Our Story

North Carolina Environmental Youth Education (NCEYE) is a non-profit organization focused on providing various services to kids in grades 6-12 in the central North Carolina area. These services include local research, volunteering in local events, and educating people on environmental issues. NCEYE does not sell any items and offers free membership. Their specific goal is to build a vast network of volunteers who are ready to make an impact in their environment.

Research and education are goals that make NCEYE stand out. While professional on-field research takes many resources, NCEYE encourages students to conduct their own research about their local environments and learn more about the ecosystems around them. Education ties into this goal as the organization uses research to create specific articles and other forms of media to show people that caring for the environment is important and why.

Our Mission

At North Carolina Environmental Youth Education, our mission is to empower the youth by educating them about environmental issues, fostering a sense of community through local research and volunteering opportunities, and building a network of passionate individuals dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment. We aim to inspire and equip the next generation to become environmental stewards and change-makers in their communities.

NCEYE was founded by two high schoolers: Nishant Bommuluri, a senior at Green Hope High School, and Jason John, a senior at Athens Drive High School. They created this organization after taking courses on environmental science and feeling compelled to do something to help our local environment. Their passion and vision has driven this organization to partnering with businesses across NC and creating engaging events for students of every grade.

They operate out of concern and care for the environment and encourage members to show care for the environment as well.
